Smooth Muscle Tumor of Uncertain Malignant Potential Arising from Renal Vein

نویسندگان

چکیده

Smooth muscle tumors (SMTs) typically fall under either benign leiomyoma or malignant leiomyosarcomas based on histologic characteristics. SMTs that cannot be diagnosed as are then labeled smooth of uncertain potential (STUMP). A 31-year-old male presented with the right abdominal pain for 6 months. Imaging showed an enhancing soft-tissue mass arising from renal vein. pre-operative biopsy confirmed STUMP vein, and patient underwent surgical resection partial nephrectomy. pathologic findings play a crucial role in accurate pre-procedural diagnosis unusual SMTs.

Glomus tumor of uncertain malignant potential arising in the bronchus

Glomus tumor is usually a small, benign tumor and typically occurs in the dermis or subcutis or soft tissue of the extremities and rarely in the visceral locations. Its occurrence in the main bronchus is extremely rare. The current case reported a 30-year-old woman with dyspnea on exertion and hemoptysis, she had a glomus tumor which has large size, deep location and exhibits an infiltrative ma...

Uterine smooth-muscle tumors of uncertain malignant potential.

OBJECTIVE To determine whether tumors meeting the criteria of Hendrickson and Kempson for uterine smooth-muscle tumors of uncertain malignant potential have a natural history different from those of leiomyomas and leiomyosarcomas. METHODS Tumors with five to ten mitoses per ten high-power fields and with mild or moderate cellular atypia were classified as tumors of uncertain malignant potenti...

Uterine Smooth Muscle Tumor of Uncertain Malignant Potential: Clinicopathologic-Sonographic Characteristics, Follow-Up and Recurrence

Background Uterine smooth muscle tumor of uncertain malignant potential (STUMP) is rare tumor, and regarded as sub-classification in uterine smooth muscle tumors between benign and malignant criteria. In this study, we evaluated characteristics of cases with STUMP diagnosis in a 10-year period. Methods We retrospectively evaluated medical records of patients with histopathological STUMP diagn...

Primary Intraosseous Smooth Muscle Tumor of Uncertain Malignant Potential: Original Report and Molecular Characterization

We report the first case of primary intraosseous smooth muscle tumor of uncertain malignant potential (STUMP) which is analogous to borderline malignant uterine smooth muscle tumors so designated. The tumor presented in the femur of an otherwise healthy 30-year-old woman. Over a 3-year period, the patient underwent 11 biopsies or resections and 2 cytologic procedures. Multiple pathologists revi...

Retroperitoneal smooth muscle tumor of uncertain malignant potential after hysterectomy: a case report

INTRODUCTION Smooth muscle tumors of uncertain malignant potential represent a histologically heterogeneous group of uterine smooth muscle tumors that cannot be diagnosed as either benign or malignant. Smooth muscle tumors of uncertain malignant potential are usually clinically benign, but should be considered tumors of low malignant potential because they can occasionally recur or metastasize ...
